9/11/2011 WOW, what a nice day for pulling in Dunlap,IA.  BIG THANKS to the Four County Fair Board and Jerry Malone for all of his time spent on making good pulling tracks. Thanks to Craig Weber, Todd Hoaglund & Todd Briggle for track maintenance during the pull today. Thanks to Zach & Jennifer Kerber for all of their hard work to make this possible. I want to add that Jennifer Kerber’s idea of having a moment of silence before the National Anthem was very touching for remembrance of September 11, 2001

8/6/2011 Matt Koski posted this on the Facebook page and I couldn’t have said it better…………WOW can you say pulling action. What an awesome pull last night in Dunlap last night even with a late day shower the track turned out to be great and the pulling even better. HUGE thank you goes out to Jerry Malone with the assistance on getting the track ready with his expertise with the Motor Grader!!!! And also to Heller Implement and Horizon Equipment for the equipment and all our sponsors for the help. Had a huge limited v-twin class with 21 entries and overall had over 100 hooks!!!!! Thank you to Larry Heller for announcing and Zach and Jennifer Kerber for running a great show!!!! We kept her on the rails last night I guess and it took a while to get through all the tractors but it went awesome and look forward to the last pull in Dunlap in September. Lastly a big thank you to all the MRP pullers who showed up and made this one of the biggest pulls in the area once again!!!!!!

8/2/2011 The 4th Missouri River Pulling points pull will take place this Friday night at the Four-County fair in Dunlap. The pull will start at 6:00pm with sign up from 4:30-5:30. The start time has been moved up an hour as the fair is having a band starting at 9:00. We can continue to pull after the band starts but this was done so we don’t pull until midnight. HA HA. If you are going to be late it is fine PLEASE print off one of the sign up forms and fax it to us ahead of time so we can get you signed up and on the board. See everybody in DUNLAP….

7/23/2011 Missouri River Pulling has been invited to the Washington County Fair on Aug 1. The pull will start at 6:00 pm with sign up an hour before. The hook fees are $10.00 a hook and the fair board will be paying back $20.00 for first and $10.00 for second. They will be running all the Missouri River Pulling classes and rules. This is not a point’s pull. It’s just a fun cash pay back county fair pull. So let’s head over to NEBRASKA and see how the dirt is over there.

7/17/2011 The heat was bad but it didn’t have any affect on the hard core pullers. It turned out to be a pretty decent night after the sun went down. We had some new pullers in the winners circle and it looks like the points got shuffled. Take a look they are up now.

7/14/2011 Saturday night July 16th will be the 3rd points pull this summer. Pull will start a 7:00 with signup starting around 5:30 and a pit meeting at 6:45. I have not heard for sure if there will be a food stand set up or not. I will find out tomorrow and post something tomorrow night. See ya all there..

7/10/2011 Last night was a fantastic night of pulling. We welcomed some new pullers to Missouri River Pulling and welcomed back some old friends. It was really good to see everybody. Missouri River Pulling would like to thank all the volunteers that offered their time running the track equipment and helped with making the pull a huge success. We would also like to thank the Four County Fair board for letting us use their wonderful facility and the pullers for supporting the food stand. Results are online along with the updated point’s standings.

7/6/2011 The June 4th pull in Dunlap that was canceled has been rescheduled for this Saturday night July 9th. The pull will start at 7:00 at the Dunlap fair grounds with signup starting around 5:30. For all you die hard points pullers out there please remember that the driver does not receive the points but the tractor does. So if you can not make have a friend drive your tractor for you to get points. Hope to see ya all there. Its going to be a fun new pull in Dunlap with Missouri River Pulling

7/3/2011 What a way to kick off the holiday weekend! It was hot to start but cooled off nice and the first 2011 Missouri River pull was a huge success. We had lots of tractor and lots of spectators. Results and current point’s standings are now online to look at. Have a safe and enjoyable 4th.

7/1/2011  The pulling track is graded and ready to pull tonight. I want to let everybody know I received word last night that the McClelland Fire Dept WILL NOT be selling food and drinks at the pull tonight. Being the holiday weekend it sounded like they were going to be short on help. SO………… Pullers are encouraged to bring coolers, grills, food and whatever you like. The forecast for 5 tonight is HOT. The Dew Drop in, one of our famous sponsors would like to extend his appreciation to all the pullers by making your pit pass orange wrist band worth a dollar good towards food and beer after the pull. Wrist bands must be presented to Keith at the bar still on your wrist. He will then take them. So head on over to the DEW DROP INN after the pull for some small town bar hopping.

6/27/11 The kickoff to the holiday weekend starts in McClelland this Friday night with the first Missouri River pulling points pull. Pull will start at 7:00 prompt!! Pit meeting at 6:45 and signup starting around 5:30. Take off work early, hook up the trailer and come pull

6/2/2011 The pull this Saturday night has been canceled and rescheduled for our rain out day of July 9. The reason for this is the flooding of the Missouri River is expected to peak early next week and we have been notified that a lot of the pullers will not be able to attend due to moving or helping friends and family move this weekend. We feel that this is way more important than a garden tractor pull so it will be rescheduled. Please pass the word. We hope everybody can use the time this weekend to prepare for next week.

5/29/2011 The 2011 test and tune is now in the books, everybody had a good time. We saw some new competitors and a several new tractors in new classes. Looking like it will be a fun and very competitive summer to say the least. The results are now up in a new format in the results page. Put up a sample point’s page to look at for the limited v-twin class so everybody can see how that will work. Enjoy!

Missouri River Pulling LLC now has a new organization Facebook page for all you pullers that are on the Facebook. New pictures of the test and tune have been uploaded.

5/27/2011 As of right this second at 8:12 am the McClelland pulling track is dry and ready to pull. We harrowed it all up last night thinking it might dry better. At 12:00 today we will be making the final call as to a rain out or not due to the long distance that some are traveling. We will keep ya posted. Thank You

5/27/2011 Looks like the test and tune is on for tonight. We were spared the rain this morning and the radar looks clear for a while so LETS PULL!!

5/23/2011 Well this coming Friday night will be the 2011 Missouri River Pulling test and tune pull. Weather permitting! I just watched the news and now they are calling for rain Friday now. Anyhow just wanted to update and let the pullers know what is going on. This will be a test and tune pull. FREE of charge to everybody. We will have a donation bucket at the sign up booth for anybody interested in helping out. Couple things to mention and take note of…..

The McClelland Fire Dept WILL NOT have a food booth set up. Pullers are encouraged to bring grills, food, coolers, what ever.

There WILL NOT be a port-a-pot for this event. The so called restrooms in the park will be open, you may walk to the Dew Drop Inn, or you may use the weeds by the track. So you have been notified….

We will only be getting one light for the track for this event. As we are not charging hook fees we are using leftover funds from last year to pay for this. So if you are in the pits and have a generator bring your own lights….

This is a test and tune. There will be no protest, RPM check, or checking for anything. We want to have a low key, laid back event to kick off the holiday weekend and the kick off to summer and the 2011 pulling season….

We will conduct the test and tune as a normal pull. Jennifer will be signing up and keeping score. Limited twin tractors, we will have 2 heats and a final so pullers know what and how this will work this year.

The start time will be 7:00. If you are late you may still sign up its not a big deal..

Oh and if it does happen to rain depending on what the track looks like we might do something Saturday. We realize that it is a holiday and people have plans. But it is only a test and tune. So if you can come fine if not that fine to.

5/6/2011 Well its been a while since the website has been updated, everybody has been super busy this spring getting tractors ready for the upcoming points season. We have been asked by many pullers to have a test and tune day to allow the new tractors a couple pulls to get bugs worked out. So that day will be Friday night May 27th. We will go get some lights for the track. The test and tune will be free to all pullers. So with that we would like to pass the hat for the bill on the lights. There is also a few things that need to be addressed at the pulling track so if you are able to be there a little early and lend a helping hand that would be greatly appreciated by all. The format of the test and tune pull is yet to be determined. Some puller input might be good. Some ways to do it would be to have a pull just like normal with only 2 hooks per tractor. Another way would be to split it up into classes like all the 10hp tractors would pull from 7:00-7:45 with unlimited hooks and so on. Please email if you have an idea.

Also the start time for the first points pull in Dunlap on June 4th has been set for 7:00 PM. We would also like to announce that the Four County Fair board has offered to set up a food stand with burgers and all the fixens. They will also be selling beer and other adult beverages. We would like to ask all pullers to support the Four County Fair as they are letting us use there facility this year. So what we are trying to say is if your going to bring a cooler take it to their food stand and stock it there. THANK YOU

2/27/2011 The 2011 Missouri River Pulling season is fast approaching. The rules are up, the schedule is up and now its time to figure out the points system for 2011. The 2010 points system worked well but it could be better. So new for 2011 will be the following.

1. There will be NO show or hook points for 2011. Your place points are what you get.

2. Place points will be scored from 20 points and down. There were several times when a class with more than 10 tractors that some tractors received no points and we do not believe any tractor should receive no points. So 1st place will be 20 pts, 2nd 19pts and so on.

3. With the new Limited V-twin class shaping up to be the largest and most competitive class that we have ever seen in the area the question arises: How do we pull and score 20 plus tractors in the same class fairly? So this is how it will work. The limited v-twin class will be divided up into heats. The total number of heats will be determined by the class turn out. More than likely there will be 2 heats. Each heat will pull and be scored as if it were a separate class. The track will be maintained and sled will be adjusted between heats if needed. 1st place in each heat will receive 20 pts 2nd will get 19 pts and so on. The top 2 tractors in each heat will advance to a final that will pull again. The final will be scored again. 1st place in the final will receive another 4 pts 2nd will receive 3 pts and so on. If there are 3 heats and 6 tractors advance then the winner of the final will receive 6 pts and down. The advantage of this type of points system is to keep the points spread between tractors closer together. Without the heats there would be a 20 pt spread between tractors making it almost impossible to win if a tractor would happen to break.

4. Points will be awarded to a tractor name not the driver. (Same as 2010)

5. There will be 6 points pulls and all pulls will be scored with points. If a pull is rained out then the rain out date will be a points pull. If the weather does not want to cooperate this year and we only get 5 pulls in then we will score 5 pulls and that will be it.

6. All tractors will be scored for points at all of the points pulls with NO exceptions.

7. Protest for 2011 will be slightly modified as well. Instead of the winner being the only tractor that can be protested by the top 5 we are allowing the top 3 tractors to be protested by anybody in the class for a fee of 50 dollars. As we are awarding prizes to the top 3 finishers at the awards banquet this will keep the top 3 pullers honest at the track. Everything else will be the same. The protestee will have the opportunity to have the protestor checked for 50 dollars as well, just like last year. Any protest can be declined and that tractor will lose 30 points and everybody will walk away with no questions asked.

1/30/2011 The 2011 Missouri River Pulling points schedule is now up. We have included 2 rain out dates incase any of the pulls before get canceled because of rain so plan accordingly. All 6 pull will be counted as points pull. There will not be a best 5 out of 6 like last year as the rain outs caused some disgruntle pullers. So we have 6 scheduled pulls and all will be point’s pulls. There are also some non-points pulls in the works that will be posted as soon as the details get worked out on them.

Missouri River Pulling would also like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Four-County fair board for letting us use there facility this year for some Missouri River events. The Aug, 5th pull is their county fair and will be big. They plan on having a band after the pull. I will put up some more details later….

Well the 2010 pulling season and awards banquet is now behind us. It is time to get ready for the 2011 season. It has been suggested to us by many pullers to put together a set of “Missouri River Pulling Rules”. Well you asked and we answered. The pullers comments were.

Keep it simple!
Keep it competitive!
Keep it able to Tech!
Get rid of all the drama causing BS!

We have put together a group of long time pullers to help with this task. These guys have spent many hours with a fine tooth comb going over other clubs rules, NQS rules, and have also spent many hours in the shop with measuring tools and testing different engines on the dyno trying to see what will pull with what and how these engines can be teched and what we don’t care about.

We have come up with a set of “simple” rules and have combined engines in classes with different rules to pull together. This will keep the classes larger and more “Competitive”. The governor class rules were wrote and the word (Tech) is what we are checking in each class in an event of a protest. Anything else goes; so if were not checking it then do it and don’t ask!!! This was done to “Keep it simple and remove the drama at the pulling track”.
