Conrad Knickman - August 27, 2011

It really saddens my heart to have to report what I am about to type. As many of you tractor pullers know Conrad Knickman has been fighting cancer for the last several years. At first Conrad had a small skin cancer up behind his shoulder and had a couple surgeries to have it removed. They got it all and his cancer was gone for over a year. Last fall right before our awards banquet he went back in for a check up and it was not good. Conrad’s cancer had spread throughout his entire body. All fall he received radiation treatments on his head and legs trying to fight the cancer with little success. A couple days before Christmas he fell and was admitted into Methodist Hospital. I personally went and saw Conrad Christmas Eve and he was very weak but was in a good mood. He was moved to Glenwood hospice care last week where the Knickman family spent every last hour with Conrad. After 3 long years of fighting cancer Conrad lost his battle to cancer this morning at around 5:00.

Jason/Knickman family. Your dad, husband, grandpa was a great competitive puller and will continue to live on over the pulling years in all our hearts and memories.  Conrad was a wonderful friend to me personally and to many of you pullers as well. On behalf of all the Missouri River pullers; Jason/Knickman family we are truly sadden for your loss and offer our sincere condolences to you. Conrad will be missed by all.

Missouri River Pulling would like to thank all the 2011 sponsors. Without all the gracious business and volunteers this would not be half of what it is today. So if you are a puller, please take some time and thank these people personally for their donation/help this year and making the pulling season happen. Thank you!!

And last but not least all the volunteers that donate their time getting lights, grading the track, running equipment, setting up scale and the sponsors that would like to remain anonymous. You know who you are.
